Our Bloggers
Who’s Blogging?
Lee Rush, Marketing Executive and CBG (Chief Blog Goddess)
Lee provides the direction for ChemArt’s marketing in the decorative division and helps to oversee the marketing in both the retail and industrial divisions. She is also responsible for creating ChemArt’s social media presence. When she isn’t furiously tweeting on Twitter, updating ChemArt’s status on Facebook, connecting with other professional on LinkedIn or contributing to the ChemArt blog, she is actively participating in the local community theater scene as either and actor or director (and sometimes just a patron). The blog was her idea, so it’s her fault.
Greg Burk, Marketing Coordinator and CBE (Chief Blog Elf)
Greg is the guy who sits across from Lee. With a fresh B.S. in Marketing, he just began working with ChemArt in August, and has dove head first into activities from email newsletters to tradeshow coordination (check out the upcoming shows we will be attending). On those rare occasions he’s not buried up to his nose in work, he loves long walks on the beach, dinner by candlelight, and cuddling. Didn’t buy it? Neither did anyone else. More realistically he is an avid Red Sox fan, a soccer player, and the most interesting man in the world.
John Breen, Account Executive and 5th Beatle
John is on the sales team at ChemArt helping clients be creative in thinking how they could use custom ornaments to rule the world. When he is not thinking ornaments- he is spoiling his golden retriever, active in volunteering for social causes, painting his board game creations in his studio and trying to dust off his Beatle memorabilia. John was born on Christmas day so this kind of thing is in his blood and makes him a Capricorn. He is a big fan of the ChemArt Hot Stamp box.
Rob Calef, HR Manager and Jack of All Trades
As we are often told: “Pursue what you love, success will follow.” After markedly lackluster success in Botany, Geology, Biology and Chinese Design, (a long story and we don’t have all the facts yet), Rob heartily embraced Psychology and Economics. Following 13 years of Human Resource experience on varying levels, he now manages HR activities as well as Safety issues, activities on a company wide level and benefits for all employees here at Chemart Company. Exiting an institution of higher learning with a degree and expecting direct application and success in Psychology is akin to reading “So You Want To Be a Pilot.” And climbing those stairs into a DC-9 cockpit. A helmet is advised. And full medical. Let him tell you about our plans.
Ana Lopes, Senior Account Executive aka BLOG H.O.G (Harley Owners Group for those who ride and for those who don’t it also means, 1. Part of the PIG family of animals, 2. Someone who doesn’t share , 3. A ship’s broom)
Ana is responsible for the development of new business and the growth/maintenance of existing clients. For over 10 years or 70+ in dog years, for those who are counting, she has done whatever it takes(bribery) to ensure that her clients have a great experience with ChemArt. But wait that’s not all…In addition to that she works with management and marketing to develop internal sales clinics, train(clone) new team members and is helping with the implementation of our new computer system. When she’s not changing the world, one ornament at a time, she is riding her Harley, spending time with her crazy family and writing!

Nathaniel Dearolf, Graphic Designer, a/k/a “Sir Blogs-A-Lot” (in training)
Nathaniel is a proud member of ChemArt’s motley crew of graphic artists whom burn their retinas staring at Apple computers for at least eight hours a day. Once mocked for his strange accent, he has assimilated himself into New England culture. In the past five years he has clicked his mouse over 6 million times and watched his eyesight decline. He is involved and consumed by the plethora of creative opportunities that are inherent to his position. Such opportunities include the design of ornaments, mailers, catalogs, and posters. Nathaniel obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. There, he studied graphic design with a Communication Design concentration. He is currently enrolled in the Print Design Process and Production Certificate Program at the Rhode Island School of Design. Nathaniel is not known for his ballroom dancing, his love for good poetry, or his fascination with the complexities of quilting. Through his unique and compelling web logs, Nathaniel aspires to be known on the streets as “Sir Blogs-A-Lot”.

Neil Bennett, Graphic Designer, “The Blogfather”
Neil is part of a unique cast of characters in the Graphics Department that are responsible for the execution of all things creative. Beyond the expected design responsibilities, his involvement with other functions in the company makes for an interesting and exciting work week. Neil was born in Syracuse, New York but has no memories from this portion of his life. He was raised on the mean streets of Smithfield, Rhode Island and was schooled in Providence from Kindergarten through his collegiate years. Neil has a BA in English from Providence College, a BA in Fine Arts from Rhode Island College, and was also a Field Artillery Officer for nine years with the Rhode Island Army National Guard.

Deb, VPs of Marketing & Development (AKA I was born to do this)
As chief mother hen, Deb get to oversee the 2 most visible segments of the business. Thank goodness for good people, and the bloggers, goddesses, hogs, and more. She was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Her first job was shoveling mud (Hurricane Agnes), but her second job was better. 23 years after receiving her BS from Marywood College (now University), Deb went back to school for her MBA which she proudly completed in 2000. Come to think of it she still shovels something. Deb loves history, trivia, art, classical music and NASCAR. (what????) Also, she experienced a way too “18th century” colonial Christmas in Williamsburg in 1998 during the “Ice Storm of the Century”. Burrrrrr!!!!!!!!

Dear Lee, Greg, Anan and Deb,
My name is Kalyan Ghatak and I’m an MBA student at the Univ. of Chicago – Booth School of Business. I’m currently taking a course called Commercializing Innovation taught by Prof. Scott Meadow where we act as venture capitalists and evaluate business proposals from startups seeking venture funding.
As part of our final project, we have given the case of a specialty chemicals startup whose products (catalysts & reagents) can be used in the chemicals, pharmaceuticals and petrochem industries. ChemArt, in fact, is currently evaluating reagent products from this startup, and that is why I have come to your blog.
I write to you to see if I could receive some help / guidance in the area of marketing such a product to prospective customers. In particular, I wish to build a sample marketing research proposal and a sales/marketing plan for a startup that seeks to sell products to customers such as ChemArt.
I’m, by training, an engineer, and I’m not very familiar with the specialty chemicals industry and/or with sales and marketing. Therefore, I’m seeking your help and advice in this regard. If you can provide any help, I’d be most grateful. If my request is misplaced or ill-timed/ill-worded, I apologise and I thank you for the opportunity to reach out to you and learn about your company.
Thank you and regards,
Kalyan Ghatak
