I had the opportunity the other day to address a group of about 37 MBA students from Bryant University in North Smithfield, RI. They came to visit ChemArt to tour our facility and ask questions about our organization and industry. Our discussion covered a wide variety of business topics ranging from specific elements of business (i.e. managing cash flow, product development, production capacity) to how does ChemArt really work.
What struck me the most however, was how at the end of the day all of our topics really came down to you, our customer.
“Keeping Your Customers First” should be the first phrase and primary objective of every businesses mission statement, business plan, or strategic plan. Companies exist to serve and help their customers succeed. It’s our job to help you do your job, plain and simple. I’ve seen this evolution take place over the last ten to fifteen years especially as globalization has really taken root. “Customer Satisfaction” has gone from a corporate buzz term to the essences of survival. Satisfy or die.
Companies have got to focus on understanding their customers’ needs, the obstacles that hinder their progress, and how they can help them achieve their goals and objectives. It is with this in mind that I express my gratitude to all of you, our customers, for allowing us to be part of your business and part of your future.

Well it’s that time of the year and Santa and his trusty elves have been busy all year long creating and making ornaments for every event and organization on our “nice list” (we like to call them our Valued Clients). Santa has given strict instructions that “NO CLIENT WILL GO WITHOUT THIS YEAR’’ and we elves have been busy to make sure that each one of you has an ornament in hand just in time for the Holiday season.
We’ve been working long hours each day but we don’t mind because we know how important the work that you do is and all the good that you do. We take great pride in knowing that your unique creation helps people in so many ways.
Well it’s almost our favorite time of the year when people think about family and friends and what truly matters in life.
On behalf of Santa and all his helpers thank you for allowing us the privilege to serve you and may all your days be merry and bright. Have a save, happy, and healthy Holiday Season!

Not so long ago we were a country that made a lot of the things we use to decorate our homes. It wasn’t unusual for small “Mom-and-Pop” companies to specialize in making unique products that represented our past, and made us feel good about our future.
Times have changed. Many of the products that we use today are mass-produced and a lot less intimate. “Time is money” as the saying goes, and with it much of the thoughtfulness went as well.
All is not lost however. There is still a small pocket of companies that take the time to listen to their customers and try and capture what’s in their hearts and minds. Here at ChemArt we are a family-run business that truly cares about what’s important to you– our customer– and we work hard every day at trying to capture that.
ChemArt was started by a husband and wife, and together they grew the business. As the years passed they grew their extended family by hiring people that shared the same core values that they believed in.
Just as in life, companies change. ChemArt has had the good fortune of continued growth. As our company evolves we look to the next generation of family members to help us with our journey. We do this knowing that “job one” will be continuing the tradition of customer first and memories forever.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Rhode Island is a unique place to live and work. We have wonderful beaches, great dining, four seasons, and access to some of the best universities and colleges in the country. Our tiny state has such a diverse offering of educational institutions that people from all over the world come here to live, learn, and experience student life in Rhode Island.
ChemArt is situated in the northern part of our Rhode Island. We have the good fortune of being located about four miles from a terrific four-year business school named Bryant University. Over the past three or four years we have established a wonderful relationship working with Bryant’s facility and students. The relationship has evolved from a basic “show-and-tell” through plant tours, to a symbiotic relationship where student, advisor, and company gain useful, practical, and real knowledge as well as how to apply it to actual business applications.
Recently we have started to explore the use of business students as interns with pretty amazing results. We have found the students to be bright, motivated and willing to get their hands dirty digging into projects. The projects have covered topics in marketing, international business, and customer satisfaction/retention. The results reaffirmed many of things that we thought we knew but also opened our eyes to things we hadn’t seen or thought of. This process helps the students gain practical experience and the company to have access to bright young people with an unbiased perspective.
I think this type of program is a win/win situation for everyone and we hope to take advantage of it for many years to come.

Hi, I’m new to blogging and a little apprehensive about my first venture into Social Media. I’m a middle aged man trying to keep up with technology and the changes and opportunities that it brings. I do understand, however, that the one constant in life is change, — so here I go.
I’ve worked at ChemArt for over 15 years and have performed a variety of duties. I’ve worked hard and had fun and have seen the company evolve into the organization it is today. Here at ChemArt its Christmas all year long (along with a vast array of other really cool subject matters) and Santa and I are busy everyday trying to build the perfect custom ornament for you. So who is this little company in the North and what makes them different from other companies?
What I’d like to talk to you about is what it’s like to work at ChemArt. Its culture, its focus, its product, but most of all its people. We’re a family owned business that still has the crazy idea that things still can be “Made in America”. No easy task in the global world that we live in.
Our philosophy starts with our founder Dick Beaupre (a.k.a Santa mentioned above). He’s a research chemist by trade but an entrepreneur at heart. A long time ago (33 years) Dick decided that he wanted his company to be a place that people could go to become a part of a community, a family. He’s worked long and hard to develop a culture of pride, understanding, and commitment. We’ve focused on our customer first because we understand that our product and service is an extension of you, our extended family. In the upcoming posts I’d like to help you get to know the people behind the brass and gold and truly welcome you to our family. I’d love to hear from you on which topics you’d be interested hearing more about from “The Inside View”. I hope you’ll take me up on my offer.
